"Wild Symphony" by Sandhya Mahesh

From the sunlit rooftops of childhood summers in India, where my sister and I would sketch our dreams, to Biology Lab observation records adorned with intricate drawings of microbes, plant, animal and human anatomy in senior high, art of drawing had always been my unwavering companion in different forms.

My professional career began in the IT industry as a Project and Quality Manager, where I spent over a decade living and working in the UK. My heart, however, remained tethered to the world of drawing and painting. Though I painted sporadically, admiration from friends and family reassured me of my innate talent, urging me to never let it wither away.

In the last two years, after moving to the US, I have embraced an extended sabbatical from the corporate world to fully immerse myself in the realm of art. My love for acrylic painting and clay works has blossomed, as I explore wheel throwing and hand-building techniques. My artistic style knows no bounds, dancing across a variety of themes. Recently, I have ventured into the expansive realm of large canvases, savoring the freedom they offer.

Nature serves as my boundless muse. When something captivates my soul, I transform it onto canvas with my own unique twists. Brushes and palette knives are my tools of choice, and my affinity for the latter continues to grow.

In 2024, participating in the Vancouver Art and Music Fest was a defining moment for me, where I had the opportunity to showcase my work to a wider audience. My piece, “Wild Symphony,” left the public awestruck, and the response was nothing short of a cloud nine experience.

Some of my other showcases have been:

  • Cascade Park Library, Clark County for an inspiring five months from Aug 24′ through to Dec 24′ where the usual rotation of artists happens every two months.

  •  Vancouver Arts Hub, First Friday Art Walk on March 7th 25′

These opportunities and recognition have further boosted my confidence and solidified my devotion to art.

I look forward to more wind in my art journey as I enjoy every minute on canvas with absolute bliss.
